When moving into a new apartment, do i have pay the full amount of rent?

I've asked my landlord and my case worker, but I haven't gotten a clear answer. Right now when I log into my rent portal it shows me on the hook for the full rent amount $1,100. It shows the breakdown by month, every month is the same. The landlord said when I actually sign the lease this will reflect my portion with section 8 and it will change. Now, I know section 8 does not pay deposit or last month's rent. From what I understand this unit does not require last month's rent, and it is not shown in the breakdown. But, it shows the first month's rent, as the full amount. Would I be paying that, or only my portion from section 8? I'm very confused

The HAP contract should start the same day as the lease. You are only responsible for your portion, month 1 or month 12.

You will pay yours and then the HA will send out their checks/EFTs etc and your account will be credited at the complex. Sometimes there are delays the first month especially if nothing got inspected or signed until close to the end of the previous month.

Have you received a copy of paperwork showing your amount?
