Section 8 funding was already set for this year, and the bill that was passed wasn't a budget bill-it was mostly a tax bill. Any cuts will be part of the budget bill for next year. If the cuts are big enough, people could be removed from the program.
Nothing will be announced until the budget bill gets passed because that will determine what needs to happen. Each housing authority will need to figure out how to work within their budget, and they will decide how to cut.
I'm cautiously optimistic that the cuts won't be significant. Cutting section 8 will have a huge impact on landlords as well as tenants as they will lose the rent that section 8 pays. So the people in Congress who don't care about low income people are still going to get pressure from business groups and lobbiests to keep the funding.
